Failing at Being Female #2: Hair Artistry

I must admit, I am very jealous of girls who can make their hair look fabulous every-freaking-day. I know a few women who always have a new hairstyle. It's like they have "Hairstyle-A-Day" calendar that they wake up with every morning. "Oooh, January the 7th...today's fishtail braid day!" Seriously, Miss Perfect Hair, I envy you. I fail at doing anything remotely complex with my hair...

Which brings me to the second entry of ultimate female failage on my part: Hair.

I admit, this all goes back to being lazy at times. I'm sorry, but I would much rather get an extra hour of sleep in the morning rather than waking up an hour early just to style my hair. No, that's not happening. Here's how my morning routine works out...let's say I have to be at work at 9:00 AM.

7:30 AM - Wake up (albeit grudgingly)
7:35 AM - Brush teeth. Exfoliate face.
7:40 AM - Get in shower and stay in there forever hoping the hot, boiling water will wake me up
8:00 AM - Crawl out of shower. Lay in bed for a few minutes wanting to fall back asleep
8:15 AM - Start attempting to get dressed.
8:40 AM - Apply make up
8:45 AM - Out the door, letting my hair air dry and eating a granola bar for breakfast while I drive (so safe)

Yep. That sounds a little tragic doesn't it? As you can see, my sweet concubines, I have NO energy in the morning to spend on doing my hair. It's a good day if I even manage to blowdry my hair. It's proven to be a fantastic-spectacular-extravaganza of a day if I manage to do some sort of updo or bother straightening my hair. Lucky for me, my hair is somewhat naturally straight, so I don't have to worry about frizziness even if I don't straighten my hair.

Second of all, I just FAIL at hairstyles. Sorry, but this girl will never be working as a hairdresser. I can't even curl my hair with a curling iron...my hair comes out just as flat. My portfolio of hair magic includes: ponytails, braids, and simple buns. And lets not even get crazy with braids, because I can only do that basic braid you learned how to do when you were 8 years old. I actually just learned how to do a messy bun by pinning my hair with bobby pins...this happened a week ago. At least I'm making some form of progress, right?

  1. You should switch exfoliating the face for the night time, your skin gets really sensitive after exfoliation and the make-up is too harsh on it.
And fishtail braids are not that hard to do, it's just a matter of practice :)

  2. Oh Tass...haha. Remember in middle school when you'd fall asleep with your hair in braids and it created that cute wave? Try that to mix it up. Plus, here's a good tutorial on fish-braids! (http://thebeautydepartment.com/2011/09/the-fishtail-braid/)
